How to calculate ticket price markup?

Ticket price markup is the percentage difference between the face value (or base price) and the final price you pay after fees. Calculate it by finding the difference between the final and base price, dividing by the base price, and multiplying by 100.

Formula

Markup % = ((Final Price − Face Value) ÷ Face Value) × 100

Worked Example

Ticket face value is $100, final price $135.

  1. Extra Fees: $135 − $100 = $35
  2. Ratio: $35 ÷ $100 = 0.35
  3. Percent: 0.35 × 100 = 35%

Result: You paid a 35% markup in fees.
